Alumni Spotlight: Mike Frazier – Class of 2007 – to premiere short film

It started with a short story idea, and soon it will end on the big screen. East Providence High School alumnus Michael Frazier will premiere his debut short film Trash Day at Gaige Hall at Rhode Island College on Friday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m.

Frazier, a 2007 graduate, wrote and directed the short film. Trash Day, a thriller, is unlike the others out there because of its mode of storytelling.

"Trash Day is a character driven piece and was written as such. I didn't want the story to get lost on the audience in a mess of smash cuts and distorting angles, so the camerawork in this short is very straightforward, allowing the audience to clearly follow what is going on," said Frazier.

The filmmaker described what it was like finding actors and crew to help make the idea a reality.

"The experience can be frustrating at times but the people I found were outstanding. All cast and crew worked for free."

With all the time and hard work that Frazier, the cast, and crew put into this short film, the filmmaker hopes for a good turnout on Friday at Rhode Island College's Gaige Hall at 7 p.m.

"Everybody should come out on the 30th because it's free, and honestly, what's better than that? Okay, maybe a couple things, but free is pretty sweet."
