If you take The Notorious B.I.G 's flow, Eminem's skin tone, and the mindset of a 19 year old from Pittsburgh, throw those all in a blender, the delicious musical nourishment that you have just created would be called Mac Miller. Born on January 19, 1992, Malcolm McCormick (Mac Miller) is the son of an architect and a photographer. Born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, at the age of 15 Mac began taking his rapping serious , and thanks to social networking he was able to develop a fan base relativley quickly.
Mac's first two mixtapes gained local attention at his highschool and surrounding Pittsburgh area. After growing his fanbase his third mixtape titled "The High Life" gained him an extreme amount of attention which kept growing. His fourth mixtape "K.I.D.S" was his most succsessful mixtape and put his name on the list of one of the top new rappers in the business. Mac released a fifth mixtape titled "Best Day Ever" wich was not his best work and had some fans worried that he would not deliver in future works.
Regardless of Mac's redundant tracks in "Best Day Ever", the news of his upcoming debut album "Blue Slide Park" excited fans. He realeased a few of the tracks to his Youtube channel before the album released and had fans and critics dying to hear the album. He did not dissapoint. Going back to his original "freestyle" feel, and smooth quick delivery this album had a track for all rap tastes. His free "do what i want" aditude shines through with an extremely diverse album ranging from sad serious tracks, to humorous fun tracks.
If you were skeptical about picking up a copy of this, don't be. It is well worth the money. Hopefully Mac can continue to put out work like this and not fall back into a redundant style of rapping about snap backs and how much he loves his shoes. This artist is still very young and hopefully he will develop into an even better artist as time passes, but we will just have to wait and see.
